Why a database

Dynamic Content

  • Content Management Systems such as Joomla! use a database (eg MySQL) to store and manage user logons, news flashes, blogs, polls etc.
  • A program queries the database and constructs the page "on the fly", hence "dynamic".
  • Many clients make changes so infrequently that training courses for CMS's or web authoring tools are not cost effective.
  • In such situations "static" pages are often used.

Data Collection

  • Many clients like to have a feedback questionnaire on their site.
  • In these situations a small database can be used to collect the responses for statistical analysis.
  • Calm often supply two dynamic pages: one to generate the form and one to display the statistics.

Free Website

Whenever we host a web site we supply a database. This database can either be used for your Content Management System, a feedback management system or any other bespoke requirement.

How many questions can I have on my Feedback form?

  • The number of questions is only limited by your/your clients' patience.

 

What type of questions can I have?

  • Radio groups, radio buttons, checkboxes and text areas come as standard.
  • We recommend radio groups for marks out of 5 style questions and checkboxes for simple Yes/No answers.

 

Can I easily change the questions?

  • For security reasons you will need to logon directly to your database.
  • If you need to change your feedback form frequently then Calm can provide a short training session.
  • Alternatively we recommend taking out our annual maintenance contract for hassle free changes.
